Why Verizon Wireless Is Still the Most Expensive Internet Service Provider
The cost of the internet has continued to skyrocket.
A study released by the Federal Communications Commission on Monday revealed that the cost of accessing the internet through Verizon has increased by more than $20 per month for its average monthly subscriber.
The average cost of an internet connection has more than doubled in the past decade, from $10.25 per month in 2003 to $21.80 in 2020, according to a report from the FCC.
Verizon’s $20 increase in internet costs came at a time when Verizon was facing a $130 billion budget deficit.
The FCC report noted that the increase in prices comes after a “substantial increase in wireless and other services” in the year since the launch of the Next Broadband Fund, which helped fund Next Broadampower.
